About Us
Global South Roots, Global South Focus
Janus builds AI-native intelligence tools for climate finance practitioners - closing the gap between what donors' guidance documents describe and what their review bodies have demonstrated they approve.
Currently covering GCF, with the Adaptation Fund and GEF coming soon. Built by practitioners who understand how multilateral donor systems actually work, and engineered by a team that builds AI from the ground up.

The Challenge
Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) contribute less than 1% of global emissions, yet they face existential threats from sea-level rise and extreme weather.
Despite their vulnerability, these nations receive a fraction of the climate adaptation support they require, often struggling to navigate the complex hurdles of global finance. For the founders of Janus this is not an abstract policy challenge. It is a threat to the places and people they come from.

Our Mission
The countries that need climate finance most are often the least equipped to secure it. The insights needed to win aren't a secret - they're just buried in thousands of past project files.
Janus was built to unlock them. Over five years, we analyzed hundreds of proposals to map the exact standards, framing patterns, and criteria that drive approvals.
The result is Climate Finance Intelligence: a tool that puts precedent-backed data directly into the hands of the practitioners who need it most.

Oliver Barrett - CEO & Founder
Oliver's credibility in climate finance is grounded in years of systematic research into donor evaluation methodologies and the GCF dataset processing hundreds of Concept Notes and Funding Proposals to map the evidence standards, framing patterns, and criteria gaps that determine Secretariat approval.
That research became the foundation for Janus's evaluation and drafting AI systems. Prior to Janus, Oliver served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Climate Security and as a U.S. government software program lead - positioning him at the intersection of climate policy and technology long before founding the company.

Isaiah Barrett - CTO & Co-Founder
Isaiah leads the technical architecture and product development behind Janus's platform. With over ten years of experience in Product and UX design, Isaiah specializes in building AI-native web/mobile applications.
He is responsible for translating Janus's evaluation methodology into the client-facing tools that deliver fast, intuitive, and easy to use workflows for climate finance practitioners.

Technical Advisors
Janus works in close partnership with a network of specialist consultancies and independent domain experts who support the continuous refinement of our evaluation methodologies and drafting tools.
Our advisory network includes senior climate finance practitioners such as South Africa’s Qavah Earth with decades of hands-on experience developing and reviewing Proposals with particular depth in African project contexts, where adaptation evidence standards present distinct challenges.
This advisory input directly informs how our tools are calibrated ensuring that the intelligence Janus delivers reflects not just what the dataset shows, but how experienced practitioners interpret and apply it in the field.
